There are many do-it-yourself craft plans and projects that include utilizing rope. There are many more that involve utilizing wood. On occasion, some projects use both rope and wood collectively. Glass is also another popular canvas for arts and crafts lovers. From rope framing for a sign to tied knots glued to a wood slat to rope-embellished glass decor, the range of possibilities is extensive. To get the rope secure and to make it look beautiful, specialized glue or the use of a hot glue is a necessity.
What You Need:

Wood glue or Glue Gun

Rope of Choice

Sharp Scissors or Knife

Wood or Glass Surface

Clear coat spray
Step 1
Based on the planned use, slice the rope to the appropriate length. For example, if you're making a rope frame for signage, be sure to cut enough rope to extend around the edge of the board or enough rope to tie a demonstration knot. Alternatively, if you're wrapping the rope to use for glass decor, measure out how much you need by wrapping with no glue to get the right amount.
Step 2
Position the rope in the preferred area. Make sure to check yourself by stretching the rope along the outside of the board to check again that the length is sufficient or arrange the tied knots on the panel to decide on layout and spacing. If helpful, mark the area with pencil or chalk. When gluing to glass, a glue gun works best. You can glue while following behind your glue trail with the rope.
Step 3
Carefully apply a fine line of glue along the surface of the rope that will make contact with the wood. Apply another thin line of the glue to the wood surface where you have planned to position the rope.
Step 4
Apply the rope onto the wood or glass, aligning the lines you form with the glue. Firmly press the rope into place.
Step 5
Allow the glue to dry at least 24 hours or check the recommendation made by the glue manufacturer. Once the glue has cured, thoroughly spray your project with the clear coat spray.
Voila! Your masterpiece is complete.
